Shandur Polo Festival: What It's Like at the World's Highest Polo Ground

The Shandur Polo Festival is an annual three-day freestyle polo tournament held at Shandur Pass (3,700 m) in northern Pakistan, the world's highest polo ground. Teams from Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan compete each July in a format with six players per side, stone-wall boundaries, and no professional athletes, just local horsemen who've ridden since childhood.
